U.S. Steel Košice, one of the biggest industrial employees in eastern Slovakia, will operate according to a limited working regime from January. The company's management and the trade union representing workers have agreed on a four-day working week, the TASR newswire reported on Thursday, December 15, citing company spokesman Ján Bača.
"Employees will get 60-percent compensation of their salary on the day when they stay at home. This measure will enable us to adjust our expenses regarding the complicated economic situation in Europe," said Bača, adding that this solution also reduces the negative impact on employees and their families. "This new regime will make the company sufficiently flexible with respect to the requirements of our customers," said Bača.
