“The market has stabilised in the last three months,” said ÚPSVaR director Ján Sihelský, explaining that job-creation measures are starting to offset the impact of the ongoing economic crisis.

However, year-on-year the unemployment rate in October rose by 4.89 percentage points. The number of long-term unemployed rose in October by 3,790 people to about 130,000.

“They are people who have been registered for more than 12 months,” specified Sihelský. He said unemployment should be at a similar level in November or increase slightly. TASR
