Unemployment rose slightly in September to 13.44 percent

The jobless rate in September stood at 13.44 percent, which represents a rise of 0.07 percentage points year-on-year, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre announced on Monday, October 22.

The jobless rate in September stood at 13.44 percent, which represents a rise of 0.07 percentage points year-on-year, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre announced on Monday, October 22.

The month-on-month increase was 0.25 percentage points, bringing the number of Slovaks registered at job centres to 363,306, the TASR newswire quoted the centre. When people not immediately available for work are added to the figure, it jumps to 402,518. The Prešov Region had the highest unemployment rate, with almost one in five people (19.35 percent) without a job. The Banská Bystrica Region followed on almost the same proportion (19.23 percent), with the Košice Region third on 18.72 percent.
