UniCredit and BA-CA plan merger of UniBanka and HVB Banka in Slovakia

UNICREDIT and Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) plan to merge their Slovak subsidiaries, UniBanka and HVB Bank Slovakia.

The planned merger must be approved by the central bank. The banks are now preparing a schedule for the merger, the Pravda daily wrote.

The merger will result in the creation of Slovakia's fifth largest bank, with total assets of Sk129.8 billion, 93 branches and 160,000 clients.
