Industry trade unions are threatening a strike if wages don’t rise 7 percent instead of the companies’ offer of 3.5 percent, the Sme daily wrote.
A strike would mean significant losses to the automotive and electro-technology industry, experts warn.
Employers have argued that aggressive wage growth could push up inflation and have a reverse result.
But KOVO, the trade union representing the employees, said a 7-percent hike demand is in line with economic and wage expectations in 2008.
Negotiations should continue throughout January.
