The police have launched an investigation into a violent acid attack that occurred in front of the Bratislava II District Court in Bratislava on Friday, January 18, the TASR newswire reported.
The incident took place shortly after 8:00 in the morning. An unknown perpetrator splashed two women with acid, one of which, according to information published by TV Markíza, is the 37-year-old wife of an Austrian diplomat and the other was her lawyer.
The two women were rushed to the Ružinov hospital and underwent treatment at the reconstructive surgery department.
“One of them had heavy injuries and will stay at the hospital for more extensive medical care,” said spokesperson of the Bratislava University Hospital Petra Stano Maťašovská, as quoted by TASR, adding that the other woman was released after treatment.
The perpetrator, if caught and found guilty, could face four to ten years in jail, TASR wrote.
