Economy Minister Juraj Miškov has announced that US companies are set to create more than 2,500 new jobs in Slovakia in the near future.
Speaking at a news conference in Bratislava on March 14, Miškov presented some of the results of a recent investment roadshow held in the United States that was organised by the Economy Ministry and the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).
Miškov said the roadshow was a "remarkably successful" initiative that managed to attract the attention of investors already present in Slovakia as well as those who are planning to invest.
"Out of more than 2,500 new jobs, IBM alone will create more than 550, AT&T between 300 and 500, Hewlett Packard another 600, and Johnson Controls will have 250 new vacancies," he said for the TASR newswire.
Miškov noted that the announced investments will come "without any support from the state".
"The investments of IBM, AT&T and HP all involve newly-created jobs that won't cost us a single cent.”
