The web portal e-profit wrote on March 29 that former US soldier Alex Dunbar has been training dogs for the American army and police for almost thirty years. Dunbar, 47, says he has trained more than 200 animals for both police and army and the most curious thing – one that people hardly believe – is that he trained them to obey orders in Slovak.
For that reason all the dog-handlers must also learn at least some Slovak so that the dogs do understand what is expected of them. Dunbar said it might be an advantage to use Slovak during a military operation – as the chance that the enemy or anyone involved speaks Slovak is quite small. The dog trainer also said he had never met any armed forces member who protested against having to learn this foreign language; quite the opposite is truth. Dunbar confessed he does not entirely speak Slovak but that he has learned all the orders in Slovak and then teaches them to the other handlers.
