The purpose of the visit, which took place following an invitation from Chief of General Staff Operations Brigadier General Pavol Macko, was to reach an agreement on closer co-operation in training and preparation with American special forces. A US special forces unit including 20 members of Žilina's 5th Special Regiment will be tasked mainly with training Afghan security forces and carrying out special forces’ assignments.

Repass also visited the Žilina-Hradisko training facilities to see for himself the quality of Slovak training and the equipment used, the TASR newswire wrote.
