Marie L. Yovanovitch, deputy assistant secretary at the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, has thanked Slovak soldiers in Afghanistan for defusing an explosive device during an unsuccessful attack by militants on an allied base in Kandahar, the TASR newswire reported on November 8.
Members of the Slovak armed forces identified and destroyed a truck laden with explosives that militants planned to use to attack a base being operated by Afghan soldiers and international ISAF forces.
