The Public Procurement Office (ÚVO) on Tuesday, June 29, ordered the state highways company NDS to re-include the firms STRABAG and VÁHOSTAV-SK among the bidders in a tender competition to build a stretch of the R4 highway from Košice to Milhošť, saying they were wrongfully excluded, the TASR newswire reported.
ÚVO decided that the NDS has arbitrarily favoured firms with more expensive bids in an expedient selection, flouting the rules of equal treatment, transparency and non-discrimination in the process. According to ÚVO, the NDS selection system lacked transparency, and so much of the material could not be audited.
