The Public Health Authority (ÚVZ) has confirmed that horse DNA was present in Lasagne Bolognese Nowaco, a food product sold in Slovakia, even though the information on its cover states that it contains only beef. The supplier of the product has already ordered it to be withdrawn from stores, the TASR newswire reported on February 26.
“Since the product in question might be present in shops in Slovakia, we recommend that consumers do not buy this product, not use any products already bought and if possible to return [these] to the store,” said ÚVZ spokesperson Lenka Skalická, as quoted by TASR. She added if anyone finds the lasagne in a shop or cafeteria, he/she should report it to the regional public health authority.
Skalická also said that at the moment they are trying to withdraw the product from all places to which it could have been delivered, including cafeterias, the SITA newswire wrote.
“We will inform the public about the results of the inspection,” Skalická said.
