HEALTH Minister Ivan Valentovič is considering a proposal to have only state health insurer on the market, the TV Markíza channel reported.
Apart from the five private health insurers that are on the Slovak market, there are also two state health insurers - Všeobecná Zdravotná Poisťovňa and Spoločná Zdravotná Poisťovňa.
According to Valentovič, several EU countries have a system with one state insurer, which the minister believes could be used in Slovakia to prevent the uncontrolled founding of new health insurers.
Movements of clients this year from state to private insurers also support the idea of having only one state health insurer, Valentovič said.
