The new mayor of Bratislava, Matúš Vallo, has spoken to the Sme daily of his priorities for the coming months.

What is the first thing you will do once you take office?

It is vital for Bratislava to initiate a conversation with its residents. We do not want to just manage the municipality in a transparent way, we want people to understand the process of change within Bratislava and to be part of it. We plan to make the city's communications as open as we can. In the campaign, we saw people get interested and it is indeed worth talking to them.

Let's be more concrete. You introduced your Bratislava Plan with detailed measures and solutions while campaigning. Which of them will you bring to realisation first?

There are four basic steps, which I can describe right now. The traffic is the first. I myself will concentrate as soon as possible on finding the right person to serve as the chief traffic engineer.
