In expectation of the Visegrad summit meeting to be held in Bratislava May 14, the four Ministers of Environment of the Visegrad Group countries met in Banská Štiavnica May 8-9 to outline their environmental priorities.
On their environmental agenda, Slovak Minister Lászlo Mikloš, Czech Minister Miloš Kuzvart, Hungarian Minister Pal Pepo and Polish Minister Jan Szyszko agreed to give top priority to investments in modern waste-processing technologies, including waste recycling.
The four also agreed to cooperate in working on international programs to limit climate changes, on the monitoring, research and protection of natural biotopes, and on the subject of biodiversity. The ministers agreed on a plan to create protected areas in border regions to be managed jointly.
