Head of the research and development department of the Volkswagen carmaker, Ulrich Hackenberg, has confirmed for the Sme daily that the company wants to produce a new model, bigger and cheaper than the current Up!, but not earlier than in 2016.
The daily wrote in its Tuesday, October 30, issue that the model was originally intended primarily for China and India – and also Latin America and Russia. However, it might also be interested in Europe, head of the project Hans Demant said, pointing to the declining demand for current car models, especially in Greece, Spain and Portugal.
