Smer party chairman Robert Fico officially invited representatives of the centre-right parties – the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ), Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) and Most-Híd – for negotiations about forming a future government, the TASR newswire reported Fico spokesperson Silvia Glendová as saying on June 15.
According to Glendová, Fico was waiting for their reply. However, SDKÚ election leader and candidate for the post of prime minister Iveta Radičová said that although her party had received the invitation from Smer it would decline the offer. The same held true for SaS, said party spokesperson Tatiana Tóthová. The leaders of the other centre-right parties also declared they would not take part in any talks with Smer.
