Slovak steel maker VSŽ has decided to merge some of its 18 daughter companies into two main lines of business – the making of tin sheets and the supply of materials for US Steel Košice. The firm recorded an after-tax profit of Sk90 million for the first 10 months of 2001 on revenues of Sk3.17 billion and net assets of Sk14.24 billion.
