JUSTICE Minister Daniel Lipšic proposes higher monthly salaries for Supreme Court judges and attorneys with the General Prosecution Office, the SITA news agency wrote.
If parliament approves his proposal, salaries would be around Sk95,000 (€2,421) per month - twice the salary of a member of parliament.
Lipšic said that if the state asks judges and prosecutors to fight crime it should pay them accordingly. "Rewarding judges and prosecutors justly will ensure their incorruptibility," said Lipšic.
The proposal does not pertain to Supreme Court judges working on Special Court appeal cases. Their monthly salary is already around Sk150,000 (€3,823) per month.
