Weather warning: Much of Slovakia to be hit by thunderstorms

All of Slovakia is expected to be hit by thunderstorms on July 31, which are supposed to continue the following day, on August 1, in central and eastern Slovakia.

The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) issued first-level weather warnings for all regions, thus turning the map of Slovakia yellow for two days.

“Storms may be accompanied with short but intense downpours, and the wind can reach 65 to 85 km/hr,” the SHMÚ wrote on its website.

The updated report shows that SHMÚ issued second-level warning against thunderstorms for some districts in Banská Bystrica and Košice Regions. The warning is in effect between 15:00 and 20:00.
