TORRENTIAL rains that occurred in some parts of the country on September 12 left several villages in the Záhorie region in western Slovakia flooded. In the village of Píla, the Gidra stream reached a third degree of flood alert, the Sme daily wrote.
A number of villages around Bratislava, including some parts of the capital city, were coping with the consequences of the rain during Friday. Firemen also had to intervene in several places in the Nitra and Trnava regions where the water from the fields partially flooded roads.
Hydrometeorologists issued flood alert of third degree for part of western Slovakia on Friday morning, later changing it to second degree.
Intensive rain is expected in most of Slovakia, with the exception of the Prešov and Košice regions, with the amount of water expected to fall to reach 45-70 mm.
