Some 1,170 messages from the US embassy in Bratislava are expected to be among the over 250,000 cables and dispatches which WikiLeaks says it will publish in future months, with WikiLeaks noting that there will be 24 secret and 518 classified dispatches originating in Bratislava, the oldest dating back to 2004.

Chase Beamer, the US Embassy’s spokesperson in Bratislava, said that the embassy does not know when the messages might be published and repeated the official statement of the US government that publication of the leaked dispatches is a threat to global security. The embassy is in contact with the Slovak Foreign Ministry regarding the matter.
