The Heinz-Schwarzkopf ‘Young Europe’ Foundation, under the auspices of the European Parliament, is looking for young Europeans between the ages of 18 and 28 who have worked in an honorary capacity towards building understanding between peoples and/or European integration and who, in the process, have achieved exemplary success: Young people who have learned to act with initiative, personal commitment and a sense of responsibility, thus showing they are prepared to grasp the opportunities of our time in forging peaceful coexistence in a Europe of diversity are those who are sought. The foundation is not looking for young people with full-fledged careers.
With this prize the Heinz-Schwarzkopf ‘Young Europe’ Foundation wishes to reward each year a young European for his/her outstanding commitment to fostering international understanding and the union of Europe.
The foundation donates € 5,000 for the prize. This amount is intended to finance a six-month practical traineeship with a Member of the European Parliament or another European institution. It is also possible to use the sum to finance a project which promotes European integration. Such a project must be in line with the Heinz-Schwarzkopf Foundation aims and receive the agreement of the Foundation’s management board in order to be accepted.

The award-winner will be chosen by a jury composed of individuals from the European Youth Parliament, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Heinz-Schwarzkopf ‘Young Europe’ Foundation.
