“We want Žilina to be attractive for tourists. This year, the town hall also introduced a novelty – a watchman named Ondrej – who informs people about Žilina Cultural Summer. We opened the Lombardini house, too, a museum dedicated to Žilina historian Alexander Lombardini,” Žilina Mayor Ivan Harman told the SITA newswire.

The modern version of the Asian rickshaw is sometimes called a Trixi mobile and it is an environmentally-friendly, three-wheeler with an additional electrical motor. It can achieve a speed of 25 kilometres per hour and the driver can comfortably transport two passengers. When the weather is fine Trixi mobile rides in Žilina are available on Mondays to Fridays from 10:00 to 16:00 and on weekends from 10:00 to 14:00. During Žilina’s Cultural Summer events, the Trixi mobile’s operating schedule is adjusted. “The rickshaw operates in two programmes – in the town centre as a CYCLOTAXI and in a route called CYCLOPATH which is a 45-minute sightseeing tour of Žilina with commentary in Slovak or English” explained Alena Reháková, the head of the Žilina Tourist and Information Office.
