Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) MP Lucia Žitňanská has become the new head of her party's parliamentary caucus, the TASR newswire reported on Tuesday, November 27, citing the SDKÚ's Slavomír Frešo.
Žitňanská replaced Ľudovít Kaník. The decision was made at a session of the SDKÚ caucus earlier in the day. "[The caucus] thanked Kaník for his activities and work in presiding over the grouping," said Frešo.
"The caucus decided. We've elected Lucia Žitňanská," Kaník told journalists. He declined to provide any further details about the decision, however, stating that it concerned internal party issues. "Something old has met something new, and the old has won for the moment," he commented.
