ŽOS Zvolen wins railway car upgrade tender

The state-run railway passenger company, Železnicna Spoloènost Slovensko (ŽSSK Slovensko), will pay €12.74 million to upgrade its diesel and passenger cars for 12 trains, reported the SITA newswire. Železnièné Opravovne a Strojár(ŽOS)of Zvolen won this two-year contract in a public tender as the single bidder. The contract was signed on January 15, according to information published in the EU official journal.

ŽSSK Slovensko began operating as an independent company in 2005 after the split of the former Železnièná Spoločnost into two entities. ŽSSK Slovensko took over passenger railway transport activities and has share capital of €212.44 million. ŽOS Zvolen was registered in October 1994 and has share capital of €11.9 million. It produces, repairs and maintains special machines and railway cars, as reported by SITA
