“If I compare her [Zvolenská] with other ministers which have been [nominated to this post], she is surely one of the most qualified candidates,” Fico said, as quoted by Sme.

When it comes to the names of other ministers, the party has already announced that it will nominate Róbert Kaliňák to the post of the interior minister, Miroslav Lajčák to the post of the foreign minister, Marek Maďarič as culture minister and Peter Kažimír as finance minister. All of them will therefore return to the jobs they left in 2010, apart from Kažimír, who previously served as a state secretary (i.e. deputy minister) at the Finance Ministry.

The party is still discussing where to place party general secretary Ján Richter and former economy minister Ľubomír Jahnátek. They are expected to be nominated either as labour minister or as one of the deputy speakers of parliament.

Smer’s list of candidates for ministerial posts is set to be completed by March 26, when it will be discussed by senior party members.
