Biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina is the world champion in sprint

It is her first gold medal from the world championships.

Slovakia's biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina triumphed in the women's 7.5 km sprint at the 2019 IBU World Championships held in Östersund, Sweden, on March 8.

She completed the race in 22 minutes and 17.5 seconds, with only one mistake on the shooting range. She beat Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold of Norway by 9.7 seconds and Laura Dahlmeier of Germany by 12.6 seconds.

This is Kuzmina's 16th victory, but the very first at the world championship, the Sme daily reported on its website.

As for the other Slovaks, Ivona Fialková placed 33rd, Paulína Fialková 48th and Terézia Poliaková 84th.
