A National Cycling Centre (NCC) should be established in Orechová Potôň in southern Slovakia. The government approved the project and the Slovak Cycling Federation (SCF) should receive a grant of €29 million.
“NCC will serve as a fully-fledged training centre and will also be a site for the organisation of local and international events,” the approved documents stated. “It will serve for the development of professional cycling as well as developing young talents, also designated for the active leisure of the public.”
All types of cycling
Peter Sagan appreciated the project. “I was very pleased to hear that SCF will receive a grant from the Slovak government to build the centre. The implementation of the project will push not only Slovak cycling forward, but our racers will have appropriate conditions to prepare,” he said, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
The approved material showed that the aim is to build the NCC as a multi-cycling compound that will involve conditions for the seasonal operation of all types of cycling.
The grant will be used between 2019 and 2023. If more money is needed, it will be covered by SZC, along with all other costs.
