Metelka won a third medal at the XV. Paralympics in Rio on September 14. Australian Kyle Bridgwood placed second and Kuril took the bronze, the Sme daily wrote on September 14.
On the 30 kilometres track, Metelka clearly dominated leaving his rivals behind; after the first split time, he was almost one minute in the lead. The cyclist, from the Slovak town of Piešťany who has since long lived in the UK, was ultimately the only one to make the race under 38 minutes.
This is Metelka’s third medal at the Paralympics – the previous two are from the velodrome. He won gold in the four kilometres pursuit event, while he won the one-kilometre race with a standing start.
