Peter Sagan was the first to cross the finish line to take the stage 4 win at the Tour of California cycling race, on May 19, 2016.
“I thank all my fans for the amazing atmosphere in California,” Sagan wrote on his Facebook page.
Sagan (26), who is currently the top cyclist in the world, got an advantage after he opened up his sprint at the end of the stage, beating Greg Van Avermaet from Belgium and Nathan Haas from Australia.
The Tour of California is an annual professional cycling stage race that was first held in 2006. The eight-day race covers 1,045–1,126 kilometres (650–700 miles) through the US state of California.
