Slovakia gained 10 points in the A group and ended fifth in the group ranking, just missing the quarter finals.
Altogether, the Slovak team finished 9th in the championship, which is one place lower than last year in Sweden and Finland, the Sme daily reported.
Prior to the team’s last match in Minsk, against Denmark on May 20, the team’s captain, Miroslav Šatan, an ice-hockey legend and formerly a star in the NHL, announced he was quitting his career for good. http://sport.sme.sk/c/7209375/svajciari-zdolali-lotysov-32-a-pomohli-finom-postupit-do-stvrtfinale.html
