Quiet Stories Exhibition
January 10-February 28, České centrum (Prepoštská 6); Opening hours: Tuesday - Friday: 10:00 - 17:00.
In the early 1980s, Vladimír Birgus was among the first Czech photographers to explore the emotional and psychological impact of colour in his subjective documentary work. His images, often dominated by large colour fields, blur the line between reality and abstraction, resembling paintings more than unmanipulated photographs.
Birgus captures fleeting, surreal moments in ordinary scenes, crafting micro-narratives that reflect human existence and the paradoxes of modern society—loneliness amidst crowds and the complexity of globalised life. His refined vision transforms everyday reality into thought-provoking visual stories.
