Art
Vlasta Žáková - Death of a Porcelain Doll
January 16 - February 16, at DOT. Contemporary Gallery (Jurkovičova tepláreň).
The title of Vlasta Žáková's latest solo exhibition, at DOT. Contemporary Gallery, feels like something straight out of a detective story or true crime series, where female victims and their violent departure from the world take centre stage.
Fragments of female bodies are intertwined with fungi and accompanied by beautiful yet parasitic lichens, evoking decay or decomposition. However, their meaning is not literal but metaphorical, inviting deeper reflection and interpretation.
