The ski resort also received €4.9 million from the Sports Support Fund, thanks to which a national training centre for skiers is being created in the resort.

The length of the route is 1,100 metres with an elevation of 230 metres and a capacity of almost 3,000 people per hour. The top station is on the ridge of Spišská Magura and the bottom station is in the village of Malá Franková.

"This fastest and most modern cable car in Slovakia demonstrates that our resorts can compete with those abroad and offer not only local tourists but also an experience of high-quality skiing," said Peter Nemešany, managing director of Bachledka Ski & Sun.

The general director of Slovakia Travel, Ivana Vala Magátová, pointed out that skiing has a great tradition in Slovakia, but according to her, attention to ski resorts is decreasing. There are 80 in Slovakia, yet the country ranks 10th in Europe regarding the number of mountain transport facilities.

"Eighteen percent of our population ski, which is a very high number. However, it must be said that 80 percent of resort visitors are Slovaks. It is also our task here to devote ourselves more intensively to the promotion of winter resorts and skiing. However, it is necessary to develop the resorts so that they can be used even in the summer months," pointed out Vala Magátová.
