The Gemer Express tourist express will connect Košice and Gemer region. Every Saturday from May 4 until June 22, it will transport tourists through routes inaccessible by personal trains.

According to Košice Region Tourism a new train connection is one of the tools to help tourism in the region of Gemer.
“The Gemer Express is second out of four extra touristic connections that tourists can use,” said Rastislav Trnka, chairman of the Košice self-governing region, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “I believe that also those who will visit the region because of the hockey championship will use the opportunity for one-day trips in Gemer.”
Much to see
The tourist train will commute on Saturdays with morning leave from Košice main station at 8:00.
“At Plešivec station, the train will be divided and travellers can choose if they want to continue to Muráň or Slavošovce,” said Lenka Vargová Jurková, manager of Košice Region Tourism, as quoted by TASR.

Travellers can plan several Saturdays and discover interesting places in the locality, she added. Krásnohorská Cave, Ochtinská Aragonitová Cave and Gombasecká Cave are on the way along with Zádielska Gorge, a monastery in Jasov, the mausoleum of Andrássy House and other monuments.
The train returns to Košice at 18:50. Košice Region Tourism prepared an overview of places worth visiting on the way. Travellers can get it when purchasing tickets in the Regional Information Point in Košice or at vylety.kosiceregion.com.
