Among the most frequent health problems Slovaks who decide to travel to holidays abroad struggle with are digestive problems, smaller injuries and toothache or ear pain, according to the data of the private insurer ČSOB Poisťovňa. Every tenth case it dealt with concerned children younger than 15 years of age, the TASR newswire reported.
Tourists may sometimes be surprised by the fees they have to pay on holiday. The costs on medical treatment in Croatia linked to digestive problems, for example, can exceed €250. In case of Italy it may be up to €600. A person may also pay more than €1,000 for treating a broken leg in Bulgaria, while the fee in Italy is twice as high, TASR wrote.
The insurer’s data also suggest that many Slovaks travel for their holiday to relax and do some hiking. About 11 percent of holidaymakers go by plane to their holiday, while up to 74 percent use cars.
The most popular destinations are Croatia, Italy, Spain, France and Greece. Tourists also like Bulgaria, the ČSOB Poisťovňa’s data suggest.
