Tourists looking for the best route to their desired destination in Bratislava can now turn to the Tourist Angels. These volunteers can be identified by their t-shirts with the logo Tourist Angels, designed with the emphasised letter “I” which stands for information. They will help people navigate around the city and provide them with information about Bratislava, the TASR newswire wrote.
“Most tourists come to Bratislava during the summer and this is why we want to continue with this project,” said Michaela Bagalová of the Bratislava Volunteer Centre (BDC) who are organising the project in cooperation with the Bratislava Tourist Board.

The project underwent a successful trial over Easter. Now the organisers are calling for volunteers to join the project. A Tourist Angel should be over 18 years or have parental consent. He or she should know the city, its monuments, historical sites, museums, galleries, cinemas and restaurants well but should also know where to taste typical local cuisine. They should also know how public transport works. Last but not least they should speak English and knowledge of another language is an advantage. Foreigners living in Bratislava can join the programme, too.
“Volunteers will gain precious experiences, meet new people, establish interesting contacts and improve their knowledge of foreign languages,” said Bagalová, as cited by TASR. “The programme is also ideal training for students of tourism.
Tourist Angels will be present in Bratislava each Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00 from June until September.
