New routes for athletes have opened near Poprad. The town created a new part in the borough of Kvetnica, more than 10 kilometres long, for all lovers of Nordic walking, running and cycling.

The route starts opposite the lake in a small quarry and continues to Strelnica, where the circuit connects to cycling routes from housing estates. The route continues near a mouflon area to the southern part of the town forest. Then the route circles back through the gardens behind a gamekeeper’s lodge to the starting point.

Director of the town’s forests, Róbert Dula, said that the conditions for athletes are ideal in this new circuit. Vice-chairman of the Poprad Running Club, Julian Lavrík, said on behalf of the club that they are happy about the new circuit.

“I can say that on behalf of all our club members that we will use it,” he said, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “We really like the length of the route and its beautiful surroundings.”
