Skiing on the south side of Chopok Peak will be a bit more comfortable this season, Zuzana Fabiánová of the Tatry Mountain Resorts informed the TASR newswire. Among the improvements, she named the new ski slopes, improved snowmaking, enhanced security skiing patrols and an overall improvement of services.
“Last year a new 15-seat chairlift from Krupová to Kosodrevina was launched, adding the last missing section connecting the southern and the northern parts,” Fabiánová said, as quoted by TASR, adding that snow is guaranteed at Chopok thanks to a new artificial snowmaking system, which will be expanded by 16 new snow points in the lower part of the Zadné Dereše ski slope. New snow barriers will be added on the southern side of Chopok, 300 metres long.
The northern side of Chopok will acquire a new ski slope, called Vrbická and measuring a length of 800 metres. Ski Slope No 5, called Turistická, will be substantially expanded, according to Fabiánová.
The Jelení Grúň ski slope, the oldest DC snowpark Jasná, and the Jasná Východ Centre have been updated and improved.
Satellite system help with snowmaking and ski track maintenance in Jasná. Services for skiers have been improved and the Ski Patrols boosted, Juraj Chovaňák, marketing manager of Tatry Mountain Resorts, told TASR.
