The city of Spišská Nová Ves has prepared for its visitors a new service – a mobile application offering a lot of information on local monuments, historical buildings and tourist attractions, as well as events and the city’s history.
“The advantage of the app is part of it operates offline after it's downloaded on a mobile phone,” Mária Dutková of the Spišská Nová Ves city council informed the SITA newswire. “Currently, it is available in Slovak and English,” she added.

The app also includes features like maps and GPS navigation which localise the movement of the user and help bring them to the place of interest, SITA wrote on January 2.
“It also includes hiking and tourist routes for pedestrians highlighted on maps, and maps of surrounding cycling routes,” Dutková continued. “Visitors can also find information on sports, relaxation and recreation. Cultural institutions in the city include contacts and opening hours,” she added.
The menu includes practical information as well, including important phone numbers, information on city transport, and a link to the city website. An interesting extra is the audio-guide available in both languages.
The mobile app can be downloaded for free via the App Store (devices with iOS - iPhone/ iPod/iPad) or through Google Play (devices with OS Android) after entering “Spišská Nová Ves”.
