Catching the sunrise from a mountain summit is one of the most unforgettable ways to connect with nature. Central Slovakia offers a wealth of spots perfect for early morning ascents, where the calm of dawn meets panoramic beauty.
1) Sitno (1,009 m)
Sitno is the highest peak of the Štiavnické vrchy mountains and offers sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. The trail from the Počúvadlo lake takes about 45 minutes and is suitable for less experienced hikers.
The route winds through forest, with wooden steps on steeper sections to assist the climb. At the summit, you will find a lookout tower and the ruins of a mediaeval castle, adding a touch of history to the experience. Watching the sunrise from Sitno is a quiet, soul-soothing moment.

The trail passes through forest and meadows, ending with a rewarding sunrise view across the Tatras and the surrounding countryside. It is a great option if you are seeking solitude.

The hike from the village of Šumiac is demanding and takes around five hours, but the reward is immense. At the summit stands a large broadcasting tower and memorial, with open views in all directions — the perfect stage for a sunrise experience.

4) Ostrá (1,247 m)
Ostrá is known for its jagged limestone ridges and spectacular views of the Veľká Fatra range. The hike involves some steeper, rocky sections but is manageable in about two hours.
The climb starts in the village of Blatnica and winds through forest before emerging onto rocky outcrops with far-reaching vistas. If you are after a more adventurous sunrise route, this is your peak.
