Tradition of horse wagon carriage has survived half a century

Carriages beautifully decorated this year as well.

Fourteen horse carriages and eight solo riders started out the parade that has been a main part of folk festival Jánošíkove dni for half a century.

The horse wagon carriage premiered on August 18th, 1968 during the sixth year of folk festival Jánošíkove dni.

“The tradition established fifty years ago remains strong. It is alive and attractive,” said the chief-dramaturge of the festival, Peter Cabadaj, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

In the past, the wagon carriage consisted only of horses and carriages from Terchová. Today, horse carriages outside of Terchová also participate. The parade is a holiday for horses and their owners, the carriages usually beautifully decorated.
