VOTE 2010: MVK exit poll results show Smer the largest party in parliament

Smer party of Robert Fico has maintained its position as the largest party in the Slovak Parliament following elections held on June 12, according to the results of an exit poll conducted by the MVK polling agency for news television Markíza.

Smer party of Robert Fico has maintained its position as the largest party in the Slovak Parliament following elections held on June 12, according to the results of an exit poll conducted by the MVK polling agency for news television Markíza.

According to the poll, Smer leads with 28 percent, followed by the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) with 15.8 percent. Third is Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) with 12.4 percent, followed by the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), which has so far received 9.9 percent.

Other parties on course to pass the five percent threshold and thus enter parliament, based on the MVK exit poll, are: Most-Híd at 8.2 percent, Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) at 5.8 percent, Slovak National Party (SNS) at 5.7 percent.

However, the MVK exit poll conducted for Markíza suggests that Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) with 4.7 percent, will not make it into parliament.
