This will concern orders over €39 purchased via an online shop at www.amazon.de, as the company informed on its website.

Customers in Slovakia could enjoy free delivery shortly before Christmas but the company has decided it will not offer the service only for a limited time period, the Sme daily wrote.

The online company Amazon originally offered only books, but it later developed into one of the biggest e-shops in the world, offering a wide range of products. Many people, however, complained that the postage, especially for common products, was too high. As a result, they often preferred smaller, local e-shops, Sme reported.

Though there is a claim that with the free delivery Amazon may become serious competition for local e-shops, the local shops are not afraid of such a development as they also send orders to their customers for free, as reported by Sme.
