Once a wine-growing village, Bratislava’s borough of Rača has managed to preserve its winemaking heritage, now particularly renowned for its Račianska Frankovka variety. Alongside its vineyards, the borough—located just 20 minutes from the city centre by tram—is home to many centuries-old wine cellars.
If you are a wine enthusiast eager to explore what the area has to offer but aren’t sure where to begin, do not worry.

Every summer Friday, from afternoon into the evening, a small bus known as the Račanská Lokálka offers a delightful way to discover the vineyards, enjoy sweeping views of the capital, stroll through the old streets of Rača, meet local winemakers, sample their wines, and delve into the craft’s rich history. A guide is available and speaks English.
The bus route partially follows the Rača Wine Trail, which can also be enjoyed by bike. Click here for more information and to view the map.
The Račanská Lokálka departs from beneath the Most SNP Bridge in the city centre—an ideal option if you prefer not to take the tram—at 16:00. Two additional departures leave from the German Culture House in Rača at 17:00 and 18:00, with the service running until 21:30. The culture house is located right next to the Hybešova stop on tram line 3.

Ticket prices are €25.90 if departing from the city centre, or €19.90 from Rača. The ticket includes 14 tasting coupons, a souvenir cup, a brochure, and a map. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Be sure to select your point of departure. There are still tickets available for this Friday.
The bus will be in operation until September 5.
The aim of the initiative is to support local wine producers directly, celebrate their craftsmanship, and connect them with wine lovers.
