Annual money supply up 9% in April

The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) said on May 28 that the M2 aggregate, the device by which the central bank measures money supply, grew 9.0% year-on-year, slightly down compared with 9.2% in March. The overall year-on-year money supply in April was 446.8 billion Sk, compared to 411.2 billion in April 1997. The NBS's full-year target for M2 expansion in 1998 had been set at 9.4%. M2 measures currency, demand and time deposits, savings deposits and foreign currency deposits.
