THE AUSTRIAN Airlines Group (AUA) is interested in buying the remaining shares in Slovakia's national air carrier, Slovenské aerolínie (SA), the SITA news agency reported.
"Since we already control a 62 percent of SA we are very interested in acquiring the remaining 34 percent," Johannes Davoras of AUA's corporate communications section said. "We want to further stabilize SA and make it a well-established airline company with good know-how," he said.
The Economy Ministry initiated the privatization of Slovenské aerolínie in July by inviting investors to declare interest in company shares. Without revealing their identities, Economy Ministry spokesperson Maroš Havran told SITA that two companies have expressed preliminary interest.
The Transport Ministry would like the whole buyer selection process completed by the end of this year.
