THE HEALTH Care Surveillance Authority (ÚDZS) imposed 127 fines totalling €188,200 on health-care providers in 2013 for mistakes made when providing health care. The Faculty’s Hospital with Polyclinic in Skalica received the highest fine of €9,950, which is close to the maximum fine that the ÚDZS can impose. Apart from issuing fines, the office can also ban facilities from performing medicine for up to one year, the SITA newswire reported on September 23.
Soňa Valášiková, a spokesperson of ÚDZS, specified that when the ÚDZS imposes a fine, it has to have discovered via surveillance that medical care was not provided properly.
“Each case is individual in terms of assessment,” said Valášiková, as cited by SITA.
The office presents the most interesting negative and positive examples in case reports.
