This stems from the investment proposal submitted for the environmental impact assessment process.
The biomethane station should be used to process biomass from arable farming. The final products will include biogas which will be subsequently purified and turned into biomethane with the quality of natural gas. After compression it will be transported to the distribution network of SPP – Distribúcia company, the TASR newswire reported.
The digestate, which will also be produced in the process, will be used as fertilizer.
The plan is to start construction in October 2016 and launch the production in April 2017. The expected annual production of biomethane may amount to more than 3 million cubic metres (some 30,500 MWh) during an 8,600-hour operation. The main material used in the process will be corn silage, with an expected weight of 26,280 tonnes a year, TASR wrote.
Slovakia currently lacks a biomethane production plant. The Lesmo company is co-owned by Austrian firm SFG Beteiligungs. Austria is considered one of the biggest supporters of green energy, the Trend weekly reported in December 2015.
